SHELLY-ANN FRASER-PRYCE SANCTIONS ATHLETE STRIKE

Jamaica's sprint darling Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has come out to voice her decision to withdraw from all major competition for Jamaica if the JAAA doesn't stand up for their athletes. and divert the negative energy that has rocked the sprinting nation in recent months.

Her words after the jump...

The sprint sensation was quoted saying:
“If there are certain things that are not up to standard then it [not running] is something you have to do. We believe we deserve to have good things, not to have our name tarnished at a time when we are doing so well. It is so important that our federation stands by our athletes, not says the kind of things they say about our athletes.
She further added:
We are treated sometimes unfairly. It is almost as if they (the federation) don't believe we are world class athletes. We are international athletes and we should be treated that way. We should be able to say that if things don't go our way we will not be running. There is no one in Jamaica looking to dope up intentionally to run fast," she said. "What's happening is athletes not checking the supplements that they use. No one is intentionally cheating."
This after statements made by Dr. Paul Wright as saying "it is the tip of the iceberg" implying that Jamaicans are drug cheats and this is just the beginning. However, I am in full support of Mrs. Fraser-Pryce as the JAAA seemed to be sleeping and are blinded by the fact the these allegations are very damning.

But why are we being targeted in such a manner? Well put it this way...if a country has been dominating the world of sprinting for the past decade, people are gonna quick to ask questions especially if that country's name doesn't start with the capital U. I am also upset by the Jamaica Federation as they're not being meticulous to these allegations, its as if they want the world to chew us up and spit us out.

It also would look like a witch hunt? Why you ask? Well look back at our past performances at the last 3 World and Olympic championships and ask yourself why people wouldn't want to tarnish our reputation and credibility. The JAAA needs to come in our athletes defence and speak out on the matter.
