Today saw the release of diva Mariah Carey's new emotional single 'The Art of Letting Go' off her yet to be titled 14th studio effort, and after much teasing and tantalizing its finally here but was it worth the wait?

The 5-time Grammy winner rolled out her new tune to her over 15 million fans on Facebook today. Of the Rodney Jerkins produced track, Mariah shared:
"This is such a personal record to me. I wrote the lyrics so that anyone and everyone could relate to them and hopefully release anything that they need to let go of that’s holding them back or bringing them down. Thank you for sharing this experience with me!”
While the single is not what many expected, the singer did reveal that the song means so much to her and that she wrote for others to relate to. It's not the microwavable hits we see Beyonce and Rihanna boasts in their respective catalogs. After all Mariah has accomplished all there is to accomplish on a commercial front.
On a vocal standpoint, Mariah still is a force to be reckoned with and that is why she is so celebrated. And while it may not be radio or hit material, I love the message and its great to hear Mariah still belting, as I was getting a bit worried that the diva's upper register may be gone in the wind.
