With Venezuela lifting their third crown in the last six Miss Universe contest, one can't but reminisce on past shows- most notably 2010's Miss Universe pageant featuring Jamaica's gem Yendi Phillipps.
Meet me after the break for more...
Now, since Ms. Phillipps' reign there hasn't been another Miss Jamaica World or Miss Jamaica Universe that is successful in those pageants. Why though? Is it that they lack the personality, charm and charisma that Ms. Phillipps possess?
Given that they are all beautiful in their own rights, something is just lacking in their overall package. Are they just local beauties? Why can't they shine as Ms. Phillipps did back in 2010? There are so many questions one could ask. The woman you saw in that turquoise dress standing next to the eventual winner Miss Mexico isn't just a local beauty, she's an international beauty.
Since then, no local beauty has ever been able to place in a major pageant. Its not like they aren't pretty enough but when compared to a personality like hers, they don't hold a candle.
Up until this day I'm convinced that our girl was robbed, we've all seen her fierce struts, her enviable figure and that poise and grace.
The same characteristics that has opened many doors for the beauty queen, since then she's become a brand ambassador for telecommunications giant Digicel, TV presenter, Courts spokeswoman and appearances on many magazine covers.
It's fair to say that Yendi still remains Jamaica's best kept secret since the days of Lisa Hanna.
Yes you are very right! She is Truly a gem! I went to high school with her and she is genuinely a good person. Love Her!! :)
