The 'I Am Free' singer can now learn that her hit Christmas album 'Merry Christmas' is topping many a chart 20 years after itsdebut. Indeed outselling the likes of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry with their respective #1 albums 'Prism' and 'ARTPOP'. While this is a testament to the legend that is Mariah, its also embarassing for the latter as they watched their new efforts being outsold by an album that was recorded while they were still in diapers.
For the past years the Christmas season belongs to one woman, and every year she sees the bulk of her Christmas effort goes into her fortune. Indeed, as the writer behind the best selling Christmas song 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' it is clear that Mariah will always win when it touches this time of the year.
Granted there's a million and one Christmas EP's out there, but none connects with the ear of the casual listener who every year fork out there money to buy 'Christmas'. With that being said, does Mariah really need another hit record? She's proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with. Indeed, the proof of the pudding is in the taste.
