So last evening brought with it the 2014 Grammy Nominations Special and while there were a few surprises, it was shocking snubs that has left many a tongue wagging. While there were a few predicted nominations, the Grammys has left a bad taste in the mouth of fans who've seen their fave shut out of not one single nomination- a thing Grammy is notorious for.
With the likes of Mariah Carey, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, K. Michelle, Chris Brown, Brandy, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga all enjoying a good 2013, it came as a suprise to many that none of the aforementioned managed to secure a single nod for music's biggest night.

So one of the biggest surprises of the night was Jay Z racking up a whopping 9 nominations for his work on 'Holy Grail', with his collaborator Justin Timberlake securing 7 nods. Also Katy Perry's 'Roar' being nominated in the 'Song of The Year' category while Lady Gaga's 'Applause' was blacklisted.
As expected newcomer Lorde who's seen her hit 'Royals' elevated her to Pop Royal status has secured 4 nods including 'Record of The Year' but has not received a 'Best New Artist' nomination as well as Ariana Grande who's been arguably the biggest breakout star of 2013. K. Michelle who's been one of R&B's leading ladies has been snubbed of a single nomination.
One of the biggest surprises is Ciara not being nominated for her hit single 'Body Party' which has topped many a chart this year. Also Mariah Carey who's summer ballad #Beautiful had the masses singing along was yet again shut out of the Grammys.
It must also be mentioned that Rihanna's 'Diamonds' who enjoyed massive success was nowhere to be found in any of the categories, neither 'Stay' being nominated in the 'Best R&B Song' category. A shock in every sense of the word. Pop riot Miley Cyrus who has enjoyed 2013 with hits 'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball' was not nominated.
Please Note: The Grammy's selections are based on music released between the period of October 2012 to September 2013, and all the aforementioned have released multiple songs between that period.
